The Surfing in Oahu North Shore

I like to trip by car. I can see the local attractions, the beaches and other wonderful places of this island. We went by plane from Los Angeles to Honolulu International Airport this time. We flew about 5, 5 hours. We went to the Hotel that we had rented and had dinner and afterward went to watch surfboarders. The weather was very well. What is surfing? It is an amazing sport, the surfing originated in the Hawaiian Islands. Why did this sport originate here? – They say, in ancient times the first athletes used a special machine instead of the modern surfboard. Later, people forgot this kind of sport, and only in the 20 century they started going in for surfing and loved it very much like I did and as well my friends and Duke Kahanamoku. Who is he? It is a great man - he is a symbol of surfing. Thanks to him, the surfing is popular throughout the world and we love it. An easy board that is used in modern surfing is much more comfortable than it before. Everyone who wants to go in for surfing can do it without any trouble at all. It is a challenge for everybody in Oahu. At the present time you can choose different types of surf-boards.

• A Long board represents a surfboat that allows to ride the waves while standing but not lying. One needs to remember that there are different types of boards: classic long board, tri-fin long board, two plus one long board and modern long board. While choosing the type of a board, pay attention to the length, the width, the thickness, the rocker nose, and the aft end.

• If one likes long waves, he always chooses a big-wave gun. It is an amaz-ing surfboard; they are usually of good quality and style. They are created only for the big waves. The big-wave guns may be different types, for example, a traditional single-fin gun, a gun with three fins and a taw board. If one chooses one of these boards, he must look at the length, the width, the thickness and the rocker.

• Short boards are very convenient because they have short length. This is a kind of achievement of our time.

• A Hybrid is a very interesting model. One can enjoy it – it is very sensitive to one’s mistakes. Be sure to try it in the process in order to understand the difference between al the boards.

Surfing competitions in Oahu are held in December and in November. They are called “Triple Crown of Surfing”. This time people can catch long waves. I went first and I had luck because there was a long wave. It was waiting for me actually. And here I am on a wave! I was overflowed with extraordinary feeling and adrenaline. Oh, that was my day! My friend is a master at surfing. We had a terrific time together. We came back to the hotel late in the evening and were in good mood. The following day we decided to go to the famous beaches.
